Imotski is a town located in the hinterland of the mountain Biokovo. Imotski has all the characteristics of the coastal city, thanks to its climate and urban architecture of the old town.

The town is dominated by the Topana fortress, built in the 10th century, which has historically been of great strategic importance, and today is interesting for visitors because of the preserved appearance and lookout to the city, the "Gospin dolac" stadium and the Blue lake. Within the fortress there is also a venerable church dedicated to Our Lady of Anđela, patron of Imotski. There are several manifestations in the midsummer's wall, and below the fort there is a monument to Croatian defenders. From  Topana, descending down the 92 stone Imotski stairs, built in the 18th century, we come to Imotski Square, where it is also a monument to the great poet Tin Ujević. Under the fortess  Topane is also Blue Lake, a popular promenade. Its dimensions are 800 * 400 meters, and the depth varies, so in the winter and in the spring about 100 meters, and early autumn is known to dry up. Its crisp surface is covered by stone serpentines built in 1907. In the immediate vicinity (1,5 km) there is Red Lake, the deepest karst lake in Europe whose depth of depression is 528 meters and the depth of water reaches more than 300 meters with a bottom below sea level. In addition to these two lakes, which are also natural monuments, there are 10 natural lakes in Imotski region.
